07/04/2004: "Venice - June 29"
In Bologna it took us awhile to find the internet cafe (the "good" one that is only located in a couple of the big cities). We checked our emails and posted some pictures, then literally RAN back to the train station to catch the train to *Venezia*.
We (I) were hoping to see the "Barber of Seville" opera in Venice at 7pm, but I didn't have tickets yet. Once we got to Venice, we boarded our vaporetto boat and went to the hotel. We checked in - our hotel is nice, but the room itself is pretty small - not much room for our stuff - everything is clean though. Then we booked it to the Teatro - we found it, so we sat down at a cafe to have some water. While there, we discovered that it was not *there* it was at a secondary theater, and we could buy tickets at a ticket store. We got to the ticket store about 1 minute after it had closed at 7pm, so we couldn't get tickets. Then we went to the box office, and since the opera had already started, they were no longer selling tickets :( I got over it quickly, and we searched for someplace to eat. We caught a view from the famous Rialto bridge, and got dinner at restaurant on the Canal - a very overpriced one!! The food was still delicious though, and we were very satisfied. After dinner, we headed for home - what turned out to be a long, but peaceful and quiet walk, through the narrow streets of Venice. It was a great ending to a long and busy day!
